Dearest family, friends and acquaintances,
I have news for you......Get ready. It's pretty BIG news! Ready? Prepare yourself.
Here it is...............................................................
I'M ADOPTED! SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahaha! Just kidding! Most of you know that by now. If not, I'm sorry you were fooled by my similar appearance to my brothers and parents. ;)
My story-My sister Emily and I are from Guatemala. I have grown up with my biological sister all these years and I could not imagine my life without her! I was 2 when I was adopted and Emily was 4 months. We have been blessed to live a life full of opportunities and be a part of an amazing family who brought us home as one of their own. I can't explain how much greatness in my heart I have for my families love for us.
I hear Guatemala is a pretty country and I've had a couple of friends/family members who have been there and tell me it's an amazing experience....Unfortunately, since our adoption we have not been back to our homeland and as a family we have continually talked about going back someday.
Remember I had some big news earlier? Well.............
That day has come. WE'RE HEADING BACK TO GUATEMALA!
We had recently talked about going on a mission trip there but it wasn't set in stone. Now it is! its official! It's kind of short notice, but we leave for Guatemala City the 9th of August and will be there till the 16th, with possibly staying a couple days extra to do our own thing. We are joining this organization called Forever Changed International. We will be working in an orphanage helping out with the children and providing any other services we can.
As of now my parents, sister, and I will be going. We are all extremely excited and have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. I have been talking a lot lately about making a documentary film about the story of my adoption. So, I'm happy to say this trip will be the first step in fulfilling this dream of mine.
I am not one to ask for help a lot. I usually like to be the giver and not the receiver, but with such a big expense and for the cause of the trip, I am going to humbly mention the need for your help. With four of us going, costs will be high. If you or anyone you know wants to help fund us to go on this journey, we would be eternally grateful from the bottom of our hearts. The cost for the trip is aroud $1800 per person.
The fees include:
*Dorie's Promise Donation
Plus we will need to purchase airline tickets. So as I mentioned before it estimates to about $1800 or so.
If this is something you would like to consider supporting, we have this page set up to do so. The dollar amount doesn't have to be big, anything you provide will help more than you know. With asking for your help, I will try to provide this page with updates and stories to share with you throughout the time we are there.
I appreciate the time to whomever is reading this right now. Emily and I have wished to go back "home" someday to where our roots began and to learn about the beauty of the country we came from. Again, if you decide to help make this a life changing experience, you will be making more than our dream come true. You will be allowing us to share our love and compassion with children and those who are in need of knowing what it's like to be loved..... <3
I will put the website link for those of you who would like to know more about the organization. Feel free to message me with any questions you may have!
Love to you all for your support!
