Dear ALL our faithful Families, Survivors and Fans-
We are embarking on our 6th year. Each year we accomplish more and more. Last year we rose to over 40 leaders in 5 countries, supporting well over 4,000 families for our biggest year ever. We raised awareness in Australia, South Africa and added a Hub in Canada as well. We sent over 250 carepackages and support to families. One of our biggest accomplishments was our new Website, the largest and most comprehensive website on Gastroschisis in the world with citations to the most relevant research currently done and chalk full of information for our families. We even unveilded the Avery's Award of Excellence that went out all over to leaders in Nursing and Pediatric Surgery. However, it was not our biggest financial year ever. We struggled mightily on our $22,000 yearly income, all from donations. It is tremendous to say we do it all on less than $2,000 a month, but in order for us to do anything at all, it has to be coming in!
We have so many exciting projects slated for 2015 but we need the sincere and earnest commitment from everyone to see this dream into 2015. We're calling this the Heart and Hands year, sending our soliders out into their communities to make the awareness real, beyond those who have been affected. We're sending our advocates out into their local communities to be the physical hearts in presence to those who need us. We need to have the funds to do so.
We're excited for all this year has to bring. PLEASE bring any and all fundraising suggestions to us and feel empowered to help us by doing your own! Join our cause, even if it is a pledge to share our efforts with your community or think of us or pray for us! Little anythings does a mighty anything!
In 2009 we started from a Blog and a bake sale. We have stayed true to the mission of putting our families first, in order to continue to be the heart of this, we need tremendous commitment from all, the pulse of this is each person who loves this cause and is affected.
