Help Sandi Rebuild Her Home

Hi, I’m Jelani and I’m raising money to help my mother Sandi rebuild her flooded house.

On January 19th of this year, disaster struck and my mother was forced from her home.

The pipes in the hall bathroom backed up, causing a leak. This soon spread to the other two bathrooms. And before you knew it, there was water coming through the floor and walls throughout the entire house. The cause of it was two slab leaks. A hole in the copper pipe so small anyone would have missed it, but so dangerous the floors had to be pried up and the walls knocked down. Luckily, she has insurance that will help rebuild the currently unlivable property, but that will not kick in until the plumbing issues are mitigated. That burden falls squarely on her shoulders.

My mom is in her 70s, living on a fixed income, still supporting my younger brother, as well as my grandmother. She has been displaced from her house for over two months. Her house has been a beacon of light for the family, where she shared such love with my stepfather, where she cared for him through a long battle with cancer he ultimately succumbed to, where she raised my brother, where she welcomed my siblings and I back with our children when we needed a place. This house she made into a home.

My mom doesn’t ask for help, through her struggles as a solo parent or as a widow or through her many surgeries. She just keeps going and giving. So, along with my siblings, I am asking for help for her. The plumbing issues in her home will cost $5,500. She needs this ASAP so that the insurance company can send builders to repair her home. As you can see from the photos, there is no part of her home that was not affected by this devastation.
