Autism Family Needs Help To Keep Their Home

Donation protected
An autism family I’ve been working with for years has faced hurdle after hurdle. Mom and Dad both faced seriously crippling diseases that impaired them form working for the past year. We have battled one crisis after another.

Thing were slowly getting back on track - medically, physically and emotionally. However, they got a letter in the mail stating that the mortgage deal that had been made while they were unemployed was not being renewed and they have 6 weeks to pay back over 12k or they are facing foreclosure.

Dad, mom and older sister have been working side jobs, driving Ubers, and even mowing neighbors lawns to try to earn the money. All while  trading shifts caring for their profoundly autistic, non-verbal, 16 year old son/brother.

They were down to a final $1,400 and 10 days to earn it. Only to be notified that October mortgage payment will be due now as well by Sept 30th.

Yes, we have tried reaching out to lawyers and other support agencies. Everything the mortgage company is saying is technically legal. In addition, many resources were tapped when both parents were hospitalized and they were trying to just keep food on the table.

They are willing to pay people back over the next few months. But I’m hoping that we can show this family that our community gets it and will help. So they can instead, pay it forward.... when another family is in their shoes...
