AUSTRALIAN NEPALI COMMUNITY COVID-19 RELIEF FUND

With an outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, COVID-19 Relief taskforce was formed in collaboration with NRNA Australia and Nepali Community Organisation. Unanimously we agreed that, Migrants community are the most vulnerable group without access to welfare support. Australia is privileged to have hundreds of thousands of foreign students studying in Australia and contributing more than $30 billion each year to the economy through university fees and tax payment. Unfortunately, many now face the prospect of struggling to pay the bills as social distancing measure shutdown industries and trigger mass job losses to casual workforces.
Financial hardship, being far from home and not being eligible for the government welfare scheme has raise serious concern among Migrant community (with temporary visas). The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) and other community organisations has been working tirelessly for the welfare of Nepali diaspora community including students since its inception. Currently, the relevant state teams of Relief taskforce are running food campaign to the needy one. Thank you to all the volunteers and state team who are working hard in ground zero.
We are aware that, following the outbreak Emergency Relief taskforce has responded immediately sharing online form to the affected ones and till today we have received approximately 1,000 applications seeking assistance. We have limited resources to respond these requests and this is the time we all need to stand together.
Now, more than ever, our diaspora community need your support. NRNA Australia has committed $20,000 to this campaign.
Please join us to contribute to COVID-19 – Relief Fund that will be used to the welfare of affected ones from pandemic. All the revenue and expenses of this campaign will be reported to public through NRNA webpage.
Target Fund: $50,000
Spending Categories:
- Immediate Relief (Food)
- Emergency Accommodation and Wellbeing of Vulnerable People
- Counselling, Medical Consultation including Mental Health
- Counselling Support to Domestic Violence Victim
