Aurora's Journey of Strength

Donation protected
Aurora was born on September 29th, 2020. Aurora and I both have the same biological mother, making Aurora my biological sister.

However due to our biological mothers' life long drug addiction, Aurora was born addicted to Xanax and Methadone. And after taking the proper legal proceedings my husband and I are Aurora's legal guardians and we plan on raising Aurora as our daughter in a healthy, loving, and drug free home.

Upon Aurora's arrival into this world, she began experiencing symptoms of NAS (neonatal abstinence syndrome) following 48 hours after birth.
Aurora was experiencing tremors, extreme pain, muscle stiffness and many other symptoms. And because of her condition she was admitted in the NICU.
Aurora was averaging a score of 16-18 (18 being the highest/worst) on the withdrawls scale during the first few weeks of her life and she maintained this score for many more weeks to follow.

My biological mother has inflicted suffering on her other 6 children as well due to her drug abuse, but witnessing Aurora in excruciating pain was a sight even the strongest couldn't endure. I had to watch Aurora scream for comfort that I wasn't able to provide and my heart bled every day knowing there was nothing I could do but wait.

After many trials and errors we began to make progress in the right direction towards our goal of getting Aurora healthy and home.

As of this day, December 21st 2020 Aurora is still currently in the NICU. 1 out of 3 of her medications are weaned, the 2nd is almost weaned, and we are waiting to begin the weaning of the 3rd.
Aurora is making steady progress every day and is getting stronger every week.
We do not have an exact discharge date but we are getting closer to our long awaited end goal.

The campaign proceeds will be funding Aurora's medical expenses, legal expenses to file for adoption, and moving expenses to keep Aurora safe and away from those who contributed to her difficult beginning.

My family and I sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your thoughts, prayers, shares, and donations.
