South Norfolk Ukrainian Refugee Rescue

Ukraine is facing an unprecedented attack with millions of women and children fleeing to safety. Our aim is to rescue as many women and children as we can and bring them to safety in the UK as well as taking aid to the Polish border.

 

Since the war began, a team led by Adam Hale-Sutton and including Mike, Dave Powles, Richard Knight, Darren Ward, David Hill and Sam Thain have been at the Polish-Ukrainian border in Medyka to deliver aid and support refugees.

In the second week of March the team arrived with 3 vans full up with 4 tonnes of aid. While at the border, the convoy picked up a group of 20 refugees and took them back across the continent to transport them to safe haven in Ireland. Adam said “the children were left with "literally nothing" and some of the women refugees only had handbag-sized bags carrying what they could to escape the conflict”.

 

We know that some people are able to donate time, some money and some aid. If you are able to donate time, please get in touch as we need people to support with the aid and help with people arriving into Norfolk. We also need drivers. Hethersett Scout Group is also supporting us by letting us use their bank account so that all donations are held securely and the money all goes to delivering aid and rescuing refugees with a clear audit trail. They are also taking in aid, providing a hub for organisers and getting us DBS checked.
