Team Prissy: Fight Against Breast Cancer

Donation protected
In one word...devastated. That's how I felt when my wife called to tell me that she has breast cancer, and not just any cancer, but a very aggressive breast cancer. I dropped the phone, literally. Now our focus is on fighting this evil cancer. We are dealing with it day by day with the help and support of others. We just keep moving! We have to because we are parents to three young children (ages 10, 4, 1).They are counting on us. They need us and we need them.

We spend the majority of our time not visiting various family members as we thought we would this summer, but rather at Johns Hopkins Hospital, conducting a mind boggling battery of tests, in preparation for a very aggressive and long term treatment. This includes chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. This healing process will be long.

Right now, the hardest part comes when I try to explain to our children why mommy keeps going to all these doctor's appointments. They don't think their mom is sick because she doesn't look or feel sick yet. It's also a blessing because having their mom look healthy is reassuring and less scary for them as well. It reassures me too. There will be difficult days when we WILL see that mommy is sick, but we will hopefully get through it. We must. I love my wife more than anything and knowing that she will have to make this journey saddens and hurts me beyond all measure. But I know I have to be as strong as she is.

If you knew her you'd understand why she means everything to us. She is the most talented, caring, kind, generous and funniest person I know. She loves me and our kids fiercely, and she has always been here for us and her entire family. For example, she has about 18 nieces and nephews and she can tell you when each one of them was born. I can't even remember my mobile number. She makes everyone laugh and feel at ease. She has a huge heart. After we talked more about her diagnosis, she kept asking how I WAS doing. I just hugged her.

We have been together for almost ten years. She is not only my wife and an amazing mother to our children, but she is my very best friend and I want to help her beat this horrible cancer!!!! Cancer threatened her mother in 2006 and stole her father away from us in 2010. It will not steal her!!! She is very tough and I know that we can and will do this.

I kicked this page off because people have reached out to us to ask how they can help. This simplifies everything. The donations will go toward everything from hospital co-pays and anti-nausea drugs and other medications to payment on general household bills, including utlities and even childcare services for when I need to be with her at the hospital during the tough days ahead.

Thank you all for your consideration and any donation you make to this fund. TOGETHER WE ARE GOING TO BEAT CANCER!!!!! To anyone else who is suffering from cancer hang in there and FIGHT!!! We are all in this together until this thing is totally eradicated.

Godspeed to all...

Michael
