Attorney Fees. For parental & students' rights

My children attend a public elementary school, in grades 3, 4 and 5, are ages 9, 10 and 11. They are being denied, by the school principal, the right to be independent walkers at the end of the school day.
This is a right that other elementary school students within our school district have. Those students together with their parents sign an Independent Walker form and are allowed to walk home from school.
The principal at our elementary school has taken it upon himself to decide that my children cannot safely make the ONE mile walk to our home.
We believe that it is our right as the parents to make this choice. We also believe that our children should be afforded the same rights as other students in the district.
We are asking for help to pay an attorney to file for Injunctive Relief. We have been quoted a fee of $250/hr, estimated at 20 hours of work. We have already paid $1900 of our own in attorney fees.

We value and desire to raise independent and confident children. The 20 minute walk is one they do often, to the park, to karate lessons, to piano lessons, to the farmers market. It is one they know well. They are responsible kids, work for their own money by mowing lawns, raking leaves, dog-sitting in the neighborhood. They can hike 8 miles on family hikes and start their own camp fire. We have full confidence in our kids that they can safely walk 1 mile from school to home. It saddens us greatly that we even have to fight this battle.
