We are a team of 10 athletes, called ATLETAS CON CORAZON (ATHLETES WITH HEART). We dedicate our kilometers of training and competition to children who fight against cancer - to true #superheroes.
What do we do?
We raise funds so that children who fight cancer and their families do not have to leave their medical treatment because of lack of money. For the last two years, one of our athletes raised over 16,000 USD for the Andreas Children Home Foundation . Now we are 10 athletes reaching for more support.
How do we do it?
Through the campaign #AthletesConCorazon in social networks and GoFundMe, we motivate people and companies, teams, friends and athletes from around the world to make donations. These donations go to the Andreas Children Home Foundation , located in Barranquilla, Colombia. This home for children with cancer provides psychological support, lodging, food and transportation for children who fight cancer and a member of their family. These families have few economic resources and come from small towns of the Colombian Caribbean coast. Without the support of the foundation, many would end up leaving the cancer treatment because of lack of resources.
How it began ...
Tony Varela, one of our athletes, launched this campaign to honor the life and battle of his younger brother, Alex, who died of cancer in September 2015 at age 27. Emily Clavel, cancer survivor and IRONMAN triathlete joined the idea to conform a team of 10 athletes. We honor children who fight cancer and their families, our #superheroes. The physical and mental effort involved in our preparation and competition is nothing compared to their fight for life. They inspire us.

Somos un equipo de 10 atletas, llamado ATLETAS CON CORAZON. Dedicamos nuestros kilómetros de entrenamiento y competencia a niños que luchan contra el cáncer, a verdaderos superhéroes.
¿Qué hacemos?
Recaudamos fondos para que los niños que luchan contra el cáncer y sus familias no tengan que abandonar su tratamiento médico por falta de dinero. Durante los últimos dos años, uno de nuestros atletas recaudó más de 48.000.000 COP para la Fundación Casa Hogar Andrea . Ahora somos 10 atletas que buscan más apoyo.
¿Cómo lo hacemos?
A través de la campaña #AtletasConCorazon en las redes sociales y GoFundMe, motivamos a personas y compañías, equipos, amigos y atletas de todo el mundo para hacer donaciones. Estas donaciones van a la Fundación Casa Hogar Andrea , ubicada en Barranquilla, Colombia. Esta casa para niños con cáncer brinda apoyo psicológico, alojamiento, comida y transporte de forma gratuita a los niños que luchan contra el cáncer y un miembro de su familia. Estas familias tienen pocos recursos económicos y provienen de pequeños pueblos de la costa caribe colombiana. Sin el apoyo de la fundación, muchos terminarían abandonando el tratamiento debido a la falta de recursos.
¿Cómo comenzó?
Tony Varela, uno de nuestros atletas, lanzó esta campaña para honrar la vida y la batalla de su hermano menor, Alex, que murió de cáncer en septiembre de 2015 a los 27 años. Emily Clavel, sobreviviente de cáncer y triatleta IRONMAN se unieron a la idea de conformar un equipo de 10 atletas. Honramos a los niños que luchan contra el cáncer y sus familias, nuestros #superheroes. El esfuerzo físico y mental involucrado en nuestra preparación y competencia no es nada comparado con su lucha por la vida. Ellos nos inspiran

In den letzten zwei Jahren hat einer unserer Athleten über 16.000 USD für die Fundación Casa Hogar Andrea gesammelt. Jetzt sind wir 10 Athleten, die nach mehr Unterstützung greifen.
Wie machen wir es?
Durch die Kampagne #AtletasConCorazon in sozialen Netzwerken und GoFundMe motivieren wir Menschen und Unternehmen, Teams, Freunde und Athleten aus der ganzen Welt, , uns mit einer Spende zu unterstützen. Diese Spenden gehen an die https://www.fundacioncasahogarandrea.org/home , mit Sitz in Barranquila, Kolumbien. Die Stiftung ist ein Heim für Kinder, die an Krebs erkrankt sind und bietet den kleinen #Superhelden, und einem Familienmitglied, psychologische Betreuung, kostenfreie Unterkunft und Verpflegung und übernimmt Beförderungskosten. Diese Familien kommen aus kleinen Dörfern der Karibikküste und leben in ärmeren Verhältnissen. Ohne die Unterstützung der Stiftung müssten viele aus Geldmangel auf die Krebsbehandlung verzichten.
Wie es begann ...
Tony Varela, einer unserer Athleten, startete diese Kampagne, um das Leben und den Kampf seines jüngeren Bruders Alex zu ehren, der im Alter von 27 Jahren an Krebs starb. Emily Clavel, Krebsüberlebende und IRONMAN Triathletin, schloss sich der Idee an, ein Team von 10 Athleten zu formen. Wir ehren Kinder, die gegen Krebs kämpfen, und ihre Familien, unsere Superhelden. Die körperliche und geistige Anstrengung, die mit unserer Vorbereitung und unserem Wettkampf verbunden ist, ist nichts im Vergleich zu ihrem Kampf ums Leben. Sie inspirieren uns.
