Assist a Dedicated Community Champion Today

This is Megan Stuber and I am asking for help for my dad and our family!

we are very thankful.

For the last 15 plus years, my dad has given everything to help the hockey community and many other charities.

Dad (Steve Stuber) is in Hazelden in Minnesota. As many of you already know he has struggled over the years with alcohol and pain medication.

Dad was seriously injured in 2008 while at work and they began medicating him with high dose levels of opiates. He also has a depressive disorder that has been difficult to treat for multiple reasons one of which is access to care in Alaska. Hazelden has fantastic psychiatric care that goes hand in hand with alcohol and addiction treatment. This had a huge impact in our decision to have dad in Minnesota at hazelden. We have trusted in god that there will be people to help. as of now we have paid for dad to be there for almost 5 weeks of the 8 weeks. The travel for the family treatment and costs to stay down there are expensive too. We spent money that was allocated for bills to get dad in.

dad also has a small GI bleed so trying to get an endoscopy and colonoscopy lined up. His hemoglobin level is 8.1 the normal range is 13.5-17.5 this is not and emergency yet it’s urgent.

he has both a lot of guilt about addiction and fear about the stigma that goes with putting it out there that he has the mental health issues. However he needs this help both from the doctors and you. I am excited that he has agreed to this treatment and even more excited about him being willing to see the psychiatrist and get that help. He has committed to fully complete the program and follow whatever the doctors recommend on the mental health side.

Now we need your help dramatically.

My aunt Jessica and I will have a joint account to manage the money and pay bills. Also, adding my Venmo because sometimes people want to save on the fees.

the funds will be used so dad can stay the whole time, we can do the family group care and pay part of the 1st month

this medical issue Alcoholism, Addiction and Mental Health Illnesses are deeply affecting our family and we need this medical and psychiatric care for dad and all of us.
