In response to the outpouring of heartfelt requests from so many people, we have decided to establish this donation page for Ashley Lucchese(Dodge). We are truly overwhelmed by the love and support that Ashley, her family, and friends have received throughout this entire ordeal. Our renewed faith in humanity, brotherhood, and simple kindness that each of us has gained is purely humbling. All funds raised are for the currently untold amounts of medical bills that continue to accrue since March 10, 2017. Albeit highly unlikely, any funds raised above and beyond the medical bills will be applied to our fundraising team that we're planning to participate with in the 2017 Boston Heart Walk. This is our way of paying back and paying it forward. No amount is too small to help and every single bit of it goes back to the medical community -- the community that provided life saving technology and care to keep our amazing Ashley with us! By paying off the bills and, hopefully, raising additional funds, we might just help save someone else's life!
For those of you that don't know Ashley's story, here's a brief rundown:
On the morning of 3/10/17, just after 11am, Ashley suffered cardiac arrest. This vibrant, young, otherwise healthy, 33yr old mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend... so unthinkably awful. A whole series of tragic, beautiful, and miraculous things happened just right(or wrong, depending on where you are in the story) for us to even begin having this conversation right now. So many of us are now changed, forever. Most importantly, though, Ashley is still with us and thriving! She is a damn rock star!!
Following the cardiac arrest, Ashley ended up with just over a 2 week stay in Boston's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. In ICU for the first full week, life support machines pretty much did all of her body's work for about 4+ days. The fight in her was evident and we stayed by her side with cautious optimism. There were various surgeries & procedures, medical specialist consultations, world class teams of doctors and nurses attending to her every need, etc.... and then there were surprises, amazing results, astonished loved ones and hospital staff, the upgrade out of ICU, some set backs, and then the final discharge out of the hospital. What a freaking whirlwind!!
There are no words to adequately caption our sincere gratitude to each and every medical superhero that played a part in saving Ashley's life. It's no joke, to us, when we call these people superheroes. Honestly! From the first responders that provided initial CPR/AED intervention, the EMTs and paramedics, the ER staff at Salem Memorial Hospital, and those medical masterminds of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston: THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! And just the same, to each and every one of you that cared enough to send us your prayers, your positive thoughts, and your unwavering love & support. Because of all of you then, and with all of us sticking together now, the fight continues.
