is an entirely student run and locally operated group based out of Ryerson University. It was founded in 2007 by Dr. Arne Kislenko with the motivation of giving students the opportunity to travel with a purpose. Ryerson students volunteer their time to researching, organizing and executing ethical and sustainable volunteer trips that run annually for the duration of May.
ASB gives students the opportunity to give back to a developing community, delve deep into another culture, learn about ethical volunteering abroad, travel the world and develop life long friendships.
This year ASB will be returning to India for the fifth year in a row as well as going to Honduras for the first time. In both countries we will be working alongside local people doing construction and sanitation work.
The funds raised through our GoFundMe will go directly to project costs, such as raw materials, NGO fees and local labour wages.
Since ASB is a student run group, we rely primarily on grants and donations in order to be able to execute our trips.
ASB requires dedication, enthusiasm, and most importantly hard work from our coordinators, leaders and volunteers. We travel to these countries not with the perception that we will change the world, but instead with the notion that the world will change us.
It is an exciting and life changing experience not only for us, but for those we will be helping overseas and developing relationships with.
Your support of ASB transcends our country's boundaries and is more paramount than you could imagine. We whole heartedly appreciate any support you are able to give us, and we thank you for taking the time to read about what we do.
