Alternative Spring Break: New Orleans, Louisiana

Hi my name is Wenricka Griffith and I, along with 21 URI peers, will be
going on an Alternative Spring Break service trip to New
Orleans, Louisiana in March! We will be spending a week
in NOLA focusing on two areas of service: poverty and
community revitalization as well as disaster relief. We
will be volunteering with food banks, soup kitchens,
charitable building sites, and other organizations
working to bolster the city of NOLA and build resiliency.
We hope to educate ourselves and make an impact on
the current issues surrounding disaster, and the
systemic poverty that follows, in an urban setting.
This trip is completely student funded, meaning that
your donations help us pay for everything from
transportation, food, housing, and organization
materials and donations. We are responsible for our own
fundraising efforts and my goal is to raise $ 600 to help
with my plane ticket and other program costs! To learn
