It happened so fast. One moment we were eating dinner, the next the water was crawling up the porch. I grabbed my children, but we were all swept away. I just kept screaming, ‘Hold on!’ Even now I hear that water in my dreams. Julian kept saying, ‘It’s okay, just keep moving, I’ve got you,’ right up until he couldn’t hang on anymore. His last words to us were, ‘I love you guys.’ I don’t know how we go on without him. We lost everything.. photos, furniture, our dog. But a neighbor pulled me onto the roof. I hugged her so tight, just sobbing.“
