Hurricane Florence

I contemplated on making this page because I don't consider myself better than anyone else and we all are in dire need of assistance in some way. However, I have had so many people reach out to me wanting to help, I decided to tell my story to those of you that are willing to help. 
In 2016, we were hit by Hurricane Matthew. My home, located in Highland area of Lumberton,NC was flooded. There was major damage to my home in the amount of 50,000 dollars. I wasn't able to fully restore my home until 6 months later. 
I knew this was something that as a single father of two young daughters, ages four and three, I never wanted to go through again because I am their sole provider and their "HERO", as they say. So, I looked for other options. I could not sell my home due to being in a flood zone. FEMA contact me shortly after and there was some discussion of them buying my home, however, two years later there has not been any progress. 
So unsurprisingly, when I heard of the threat of Hurricane Florence, the anxiety set in and I began to fear that the results of Hurricane Matthew 2016 could potentially become the results with Hurricane Florence 2018. This has now become my reality. Hurricane Florence has caused more damage than Hurricane Matthew. I worked endlessly, like many others, preparing at best I could for the storm, salvaging things that I didn't want to loose.
It's difficult explaining to your daughters why they can't go home. However, at this moment I am thankful. Thankful because I still have the safety and health of those same little girls that still think and know I am their " Hero".
