Hi, I'm Artie! I'm an autistic nonbinary lesbian, a dedicated self-advocate and an active leader in my local mutual aid network. 2022 was unfortunately not very kind to me. I started the year off in a financially abusive situation, struggled consistently with accessible employment, and survived multiple traumatic car accidents, the most recent of which was on January 4th, 2023 and required two different tow trucks to pull my car out of the 10-foot drop creek/ditch. Obviously, these events have drained me of my savings and as it stands I will not make rent in February.

The good news is that I have an amazing girlfriend, a pretty steady job at an inclusive employer*, and a great community of people to support me and get me where I'm going. EDIT 02/17/2023: Your support has been so meaningful during this time. The traumatic brain injury I sustained from the accident has been causing lasting effects that I'm still trying to understand. *I lost the job I had previously

I was out of commission for most of January and was hospitalized for a week, resulting in a relatively small bill for a hospital, but even after insurance it's still bigger than I can manage at 1,800$. I have applied for the bill help program the hospital offers, but if I'm not approved I will have to pay the fee.

I still struggle greatly with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) and would benefit greatly from a support professional. However, as I've mostly been able to regain my Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), my insurance is not covering the support I will need once my girlfriend finds a job and is out of the house.

I also probably need to find at least part-time employment myself, but struggle to find any jobs at all, let alone accepting, accessible workplaces.
