Arthur's Surgery Costs
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Uyen and I'm Arthur's owner. I didn't expect to start a GoFundMe page but the cost of keeping Arthur alive is more than I can afford to take on right now.
Arthur is a 7-year-old domestic shorthair. I adopted him during my junior year of college when he was 6 weeks old. He has been my emotional support animal and best friend ever since. He is a chunky boy but the sweetest cat you'll ever meet, and seeing him in pain is killing me.
On Valentine's Day 2023, he suffered another blockage in his urinary tract. It's only been 6 months since he experienced his first one, and I paid over $4,000 at MedVet Emergency Hospital in Dallas to do the catheter procedure. It was a horrible experience that changed my life, and I wasn't prepared to go through it again so soon.
If you know me, I never ask for help because I don't want to depend on others. However, his situation has escalated to a critical status and he needs a cystotomy and PU surgery ASAP. His x-ray images show bladder stones right by the urethra, which means that he'll continue to have blockage unless we get those stones removed. He's been staying at the Frisco Emergency Pet Care since 2/14/23, but now we need to transfer him over to Highlands-Eldorado Veterinary Hospital for the surgeries. The vet said we cannot remove the catheter until the surgery or else he'll get blocked instantly.
The cost of that surgery is more debt than I can take on. I know that it's selfish to ask for donations, especially with today’s economy, but I want to save my best friend, and any amount will be greatly appreciated. Feel free to call the hospital and confirm the prices as well.

**UPDATE 3/14/23**
Arthur is now back at home after 2 weeks of quarantining at my boyfriend's apartment. He wore his cone for 14 days before getting his sutures out on 3/9, and spent an extra 4 days just to be safe. He's back to his normal self and eating/pooping normally again. Thank you SO much for supporting us! <3
**UPDATE 2/23/23**
We picked up Arthur from the hospital yesterday afternoon and he was so happy to go home. Arthur will be quarantined with his cone at my boyfriend's apartment for 2 weeks so he doesn't infect or pull out his sutures. It's a challenge so far because Arthur hates wearing the cone, and I can't watch him 24/7 either. Dr. Taylor will take out the sutures on 3/9 so wish us luck until then!
**UPDATE 2/20/23**
Dr. Taylor said he wants the catheter in Arthur for a couple more days so he won't be going home today as planned, but hopefully Wednesday afternoon (2/22). Since he understands my current financial situation, it'll only be charged as boarding for $55/night instead of the regular hospitalization fee of $500+/night. We came to visit Arthur and he was super happy. He got so many scratches and cuddles, and he does not like the cone around his neck. Arthur still likes to move and jump around which worries me.
**UPDATE 2/18/23**
Arthur's cystotomy and PU surgeries on 2/17/23 were successful and he will be staying at the hospital until Monday afternoon (2/20). Dr. Taylor was able to remove all the bladder stones that were blocking and expanded his urethra by removing his penis. Arthur is currently urinating by using the catheter at this time, but Dr. Taylor will be removing it Monday morning. According to the technicians, Arthur is "doing really well" and "resting comfortably" while enjoying lots of chin scratches! Typical Arthur :)
