Archbishop Blanch Solidarity Fast

Donation protected
On Thursday 28th April, 34 members of school staff, including governors, from Archbishop Blanch Church of England High School, will take part in the Ramadan Challenge. For one day, the staff will fast in solidarity with members of the local Muslim community, fasting from sunrise to sunset.

The challenge was the brainwave of Amirah Akhtar, born and raised in Merseyside. She often felt that as a Muslim community it had a duty to include their Non- Muslim friends, colleagues and loved ones in the Ramadan experience, to share the beauty, so they too can taste the sweetness of Ramadan.

The Ramadan Challenge was born from this and incorporates some of the key elements of fasting and giving, providing support to those venturing on this journey for the first time.

Through sponsorship, the members of staff from Archbishop Blanch will be raising funds to support the Al-Sabeen Hospital. (Please Google the hospital for more information.)This hospital is the only centre with a functioning Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and children can still access adequate medical care. The hospital’s services are often provided for free, which is extremely unusual. The hospital has very close links to Liverpool, which is why we have chosen to support it with our solidarity fast.
