Who is Arbor Rising? Founded in 2010, Arbor Rising is a NYC-based grantmaking nonprofit and a 501c3 organization. Arbor Rising provides unrestricted multi-year funding and high-dosage capacity-strengthening support to a portfolio of promising nonprofits focused on building pathways out of poverty. Arbor Rising's Leaders of Color Initiative (LOCI) was created in response to two systemic challenges: leaders of color are underrepresented in positions of nonprofit executive leadership, and face greater barriers to success when they do occupy those positions. To help address these issues, Arbor Rising engages high-potential early-stage nonprofits headed by leaders of color to provide hands-on capacity-building support focused on theory of change development, as well as $20,000 in general operating support.
