Appetite for Humanity: Austin-Afghan Food Welcome

Austin is receiving hundreds of Afghan evacuees.  Please help welcome them by sponsoring culturally-specific groceries and kitchen equipment.

When refugees arrive in the U.S., they immediately want to figure out how to find the special ingredients and cooking supplies that allow them to make the foods they know and love.    Our new Afghan neighbors will be cooking the foods of their homeland almost every day, including baking their own bread.

Let’s help them get started with a full pantry and the right equipment so that they can have the sustenance and comfort of familiar foods as soon as they arrive.

Appetite for Humanity has used the first round of funding to outfit 30 Afghan kitchens, and now we need to raise enough for another 30 families.

Your donation will be used to purchase:
* Pressure Cookers
* Blender/Food Processor Combos
* Large, Heavy Pots for cooking rice, etc.
* Steamer Pots for Afghan dumplings (Mantu, Ashak)
* Mixing Bowls
* Tea Thermoses
* Serving Platters and Trays
* Basmati Rice, Lentils, Beans
* Spices
* Flour, Yeast, Sugar
* Cooking Oil
* Green Tea
* Almonds, Pistachios, Cashews
* Dried Fruits
* ....and more

Nothing big or fancy; just a grassroots effort to provide community and a warm welcome through food.

Thank you for your support!
