A little less than a year ago, my 23 year old nephew graduated from the NYFD EMT program.  A few months later his first born would turn 1, and Anthony would embark on a new journey to further his education with the NYFD program to become a Drill Instructor for the EMT program.  As you can imagine, between being a new father, working full time and going to school, Anthony hasnt had much time outside of those things for rest and recovery. He is no stranger to adversity, but you would never know it because he is always humble, and always with a smile. We're talking about a dedicated, loving, big hearted young man with aspirations and the drive to take his responsibilities to build a beautiful future for his family and provide for his son.  We can all agree that our Anthony loves his family more than anything else in this world.

This past Sunday, January 28, 2018 at around 4am, Anthony was involved in a near fatal accident.  When the paramedics and FD arrived on the scene Anthony was unconscious and the car so badly damaged that he needed to be cut out of it.  He suffered a lot of head trauma and blood loss, and is currently at Kings County hospital, still with high hopes and a smile.  We are so fortunate that things were not worse.  He has mobility, he is alert, and though he is in pain, he is in decent spirits considering he  will have permanent  reminders of that moment.  I purposefully did not post pictures of his injuries out of respect for the situation as it is still a shock for him.
