An's Volunteering Project

Donation protected
For the longest time, I've wanted to travel the world and meet people, possibly helping to make their lives a bit better and happier, just as my parents did for me when they fled Saigon on a boat to give me and my future brothers a better and safer life.

I am finally making time to make my dream a reality. I'm dedicating 3 months to volunteer and devote my time to give what I can to the following projects;

Vietnam (December): Vietnamese Orphanage
A brand new Catholic Orphanage for disabled children has recently opened and is desperate for volunteers to help with the setup and running of the home, care for the children and teach them English.

Uganda (January): Women's Empowerment
As in many countries around the world, women in Uganda face a number of challenges: discrimination, unequal rights, poverty, low social status, low literacy rates, limited access to education and greater risk of HIV/AIDS infection. Traditional and cultural codes often result in girls being taken out of school early to help with income generating activities or agricultural labour and are more likely to be married at a young age.
Although women contribute to the socio economic development of Uganda, they still remain an economically disadvantaged group and in particular those from rural communities. Fewer jobs are available to women and their lack of economic power in rural communities is an obstacle to any long term improvement in their status.
This project looks to tackle this inequality and improve the quality of life for women in marginalised rural communities by providing economic stability.

Sierra Leone (February): Building/Renovating Schools
This project will involve building a school, painting of walls or murals and improving existing schools/classrooms, playground facilities and sanitation and waste management facilities. The work is aimed at improving the local educational infrastructure.

All of these projects are close to my heart for many reasons but mostly because they are related to the opportunities I've had in my life and been blessed with.

I know during my time volunteering, I will come across people and situations where financial assistance will greatly improve their circumstances. I'd love to be able to provide this assistance by directly purchasing furniture, equipment, clothing, educational tools or paying for training, as examples.

I humbly ask for whatever donation you can spare so I can provide this financial aid. I'm certain the recipients will be grateful for your help, as I know I definitely will be, knowing I have your support behind me.

As I'm starting my volunteering project very soon and leave on Sunday 3rd December, if you would like to donate, I'd be so grateful if you could before Saturday 2nd December so I can take your donations with me.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this page and read about the projects I am getting involved in.
