From the moment I met her during our initial meet and greet at Miami Dade Animal Services (MDAS), her affectionate demeanor and obedience captured my heart. After completing the adoption process and paying the adoption fee, I was devastated when MDAS suddenly deemed Chanel dangerous and refused to release her to me, despite having previously agreed to let her come home.

MDAS insisted on spaying Chanel themselves, violating Dade County law, which entitles every adopter to choose their own veterinarian with a simple $100 deposit and a spay contract. The procedure at MDAS left her in excruciating pain, unable to rise from her kennel. When she instinctively growled in pain as they attempted to force her out, they labeled her a threat and tragically ended her life. This action was not only heartless but also illegal, as under Florida law, Chanel was legally mine the moment the adoption was finalized.

The individuals responsible include Director Annette Jose, Gilda Nuñez, Georgina Vargas, Tracy Bravo, Heather Keenan, Maria Serrano, and Alejandra Duran, then altered Chanel's records to cover their tracks. This injustice cannot stand.
