Hello! I'm Annalisa :)
I'm a senior at Emerson College studying Creative Writing. I just found out I got into our study abroad program in Ireland. It's a month-long program in Ballyvaughan that takes place at Burren College.
During the program, I'd get to study Irish poets like Moya Cannon and Mary O’Malley, take a field trip to Corcomroe Abbey and Kilmacduagh Monastery, and let my poetry be inspired by Ireland's surroundings. Here is the link to my website if you’re interested in reading my poetry! I've never been abroad (not even to Canada!) so I feel so grateful to have this opportunity.
The tuition is $7,500 and I would appreciate any contribution you can make. I am trying to come up with a portion of the money with my part-time job at the Harvard Coop and my on-campus job as a Welcome Desk Assistant at Emerson. I am also in the process of applying to scholarships.
Everyone I have talked to who has partaken in this program has said it's changed their life. I intern at the Grolier Poetry Bookshop in Cambridge, the oldest poetry bookstore in the country. My boss James Fraser also went to Emerson and was a part of this same program. He said it transformed him as both a poet and a person. My thesis advisor Livia Mengehin also was a part of this same program and said it's a special place.
I would love the opportunity to study abroad doing something I love: reading and writing poetry. Anything you can donate helps! And if you can't donate, I would greatly appreciate you just sharing this on social media or telling people you know! I greatly appreciate it!
I hope you have a beautiful day <3
Yours in Poetry,
Annalisa Hansford
