Anita Byers’ Cancer Battle

Anita Byers is our senior settlement processor at Tri State Signature Settlements. She is not only a colleague, but my friend of thirty plus years.  This past April, on a Monday afternoon, she told me “see ya tomorrow” and headed home. She texted me that night to tell me that she was going to the doctors office in the morning because she had been having some tremors in her leg. After testing at the hospital, she was diagnosed that Tuesday with stage 4 lung cancer and three lesions on her brain.  Radiation treatments started immediately and chemo treatments were scheduled shortly after. She got some post treatment scans that were positive and all of us that love her thought our prayers had been answered.  Our hope was short lived as she found out a few weeks ago that the cancer had spread, in her brain, her lungs, her liver and her stomach.  She went under Hospice care last week and the prognosis is not good. Her husband Ernie is loyally and lovingly by her side and caring for her, unable to go to work.  We’ve continued to keep Anita on payroll throughout but with medical bills and the loss of income, it’s just not enough for what this family needs. I know Anita has touched a lot of hearts and she’s such a good person, always willing to help anyone that she can.  Please, give if you can, to help Anita and Ernie. Every little bit helps to pay medical bills, pay for medical assistance and to make necessary, heart breaking arrangements.  You see, she’s been so strong and focused throughout her ordeal. Making plans, thinking ahead, trying to pay bills and make sure that her burdens aren’t left for her husband, her Dad and her family.  We all want to do whatever we can to bring her any amount of peace and comfort that we can.  Thank you so much for reading her story.
