Volunteering for animal rehabilitation in Belize
Donation protected
My name is Allie, I have a degree in Zoology. Conservation and rehabilitation has always been something I have wanted to pursue. I have always found animals and the natural world fascinating.
I have previously spent four months at Wildtracks in Belize as a senior volunteer. I am now going back for seven months as an intern. This is an amazing opportunity and I am very excited.
When I was last at Wildtracks, I primarily worked with spider monkeys which was fantastic. They are such little characters and have very different personalities. I also worked closely with a juvenile peccary, an ocelot, a margay, a raccoon and a coati. I occasionally helped out with manatee rehabilitation as well.
Wildtracks is a brilliant facility that rescues, rehabilitates and releases not only primates and manatees but a wide range of species. They have a high success rate and are very good at what they do. I am very privileged to be able to take part in the release of primates and other species.
The reintroduction of these animals into the wild will result in the increase of population sizes and prevent species at risk from falling towards being endangered. We must work to keep the diversity of our natural world healthy to protect the beautiful world we live in.
Thank you for your help and I will keep everyone updated through FB and Insta.
