STORY

Anyone who knows Angela knows that she is an outgoing, determined, beautiful and smart woman. Unfortunately, this hasn't been the easiest few years for her.  Her family consisted of herself, her brother Rob
and Lucy, her sick mom, for many years.  As her mother's cancer progressed, it became necessary for Angela to take over running the house.  Angela worked as many hours as she could in a restaurant in addition to maintaining her academic standing and participating in extracurricular activities at school.   She became
the primary caretaker for her mom and sometimes attending school was sacrificed to take her mom to
doctor appointments and necessary treatments, always using public transportation.   In spite of these rigorous demands, Angela maintained a high average even though her schedule was filled with advanced and AP classes.
For the last two years, she has been commuting to St. John's University using buses and subways.  She is currently pursuing an MA in government and politics. She maintains a high average in all of her classes.  Her brother Rob is also on his way to becoming a teacher.  Any time not spent in classes or commuting is spent working in order to pay the bills and support herself and her brother.   As part of running the household, Angela walks quite a distance each way to do laundry and grocery shopping.  Starting at a very early age, Angela has faced hardships that children usually do not encounter.  Not only has she successfully risen to the challenge, she does so with a positive, happy and grateful attitude.

GOALS

With their mother's passing, Angela and Rob's income has been greatly reduced.  Our goal is  two-fold.
We would like to be able to raise enough funds to help Angela  and her brother remain in their apartment for the coming year. It is a familiar, comforting environment and it is filled with happy memories of their life together with their  Mom. We would also like to be able to purchase a used car in good condition for Angela with enough funds to cover insurance costs and gas for a year. ANY amount you choose to donate is infinitely appreciated.

We thank you so much in advance!
