Andrew's Cancer: Family Support Fundraiser
Donación protegida
The Martin family is facing a life-threatening medical emergency. On Saturday of this past week, Andrew was diagnosed with Appendiceal Cancer, a rare intestinal cancer which has spread rapidly throughout his abdomen. Emergency procedures, visits with specialists, and an immediate open-abdominal surgery are being scheduled at OHSU.
Their journey to grow their family has been one of continual prayer for a miracle. Their first miracle, Violet Joelle Martin, arrived 8 weeks ago, on October 8th (their fourth wedding anniversary). The celebration of her life is now mingled with fear of the unknown and hope in the Lord, as they battle this cancer to preserve his life.
Andrew shared,
"This past week has been a roller coaster of fear, grief, anger and disbelief as I received news that has shaken me and my family to our core... We covet your prayers as we move forward on this journey, as we will need to be strong and remain hopeful for healing. The last few years Linnea and I wrestled with the lord in our prayers with our desire to build our family, we learned that God always hears our prayers and has an answer for it, but sometimes the answer comes slowly and the path to the miracle will look different than the way we imagine, but that God always had a plan, a reason for it and it’s a good one. Our conversations with God during that time were incredibly faith-building and brought us very close, we know this will also do the same."

Andrew will not be able to work as he focuses on the battle ahead, and each day incurs new expenses. Our prayer is that in the midst of all this tragedy, Andrew and Linnea will be relieved of all financial worries and overwhelmed by the love of our community who have received so much love and support from them! All contributions and donations are loving expressions of support and will help cover the costs of:
- Medical Bills
- Deductibles (which will need to be paid twice in the two months as it's the end of the year.)
- Surgeries
- Chemotherapy
- Other Treatments
- Travel, Lodging & food
- and the remaining medical expenses of Violet's birth (which, due to how fast this all came on, have not been paid for yet.)
In addition to financial gifts, it helps A LOT for people to repost and share this Fundraiser.
As we continue to pray for a second miracle for the Martin family, Andrew shared this Scripture the bedrock of his faith and confidence:
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;
His faithful promises are your armor and protection
You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day.
