Andrew Pope Medical Expenses - Roscoe TX

My name is Adam Pope. I am one of Andrew’s older brothers. On April 24, 2023 Andrew attempted to take his life while at school. He shot himself at the school, he did not in any way attempt to harm anyone at the school. He was rushed to the nearest hospital which due to the rural location was 15 minutes away. The hospital he was rushed to did not have anywhere near the capacity to deal with his injury.

During this time the weather was poor and a helicopter could not be flown in the cloud coverage and rain to take him to a hospital that could provide help. The weather was not going to improve in an adequate time frame and they were going to drive him 190 miles, almost 3 hours, in order to get him the immediate care he needed.

Fortunately God provided an opportunity and a medical fixed wing plane was flown in and he was transported to Cook Children Medical Center which is only a 45 minute flight. This allowed Andrew to get the immediate care he needed.

The doctors and staff at Cooks were incredible and Andrew fought so bravely for three days while Neurological specialist did everything they could for Andrew. On April 26 th, 2023 Andrew was taken into Gods open arms and we had to say goodbye.

Everything I’m asking for above is what the cost of that very important medical flight and all the intensive treatment he received while at Cooks. For complete transparency the business office informed me at Cooks that this number could go down depending on any additional items our insurance may decided to accept as covered under our policy. If we reach this goal and we find out we don’t need all the money, anything extra will go to a Suicide awareness charity.

I have been in communication with the financial Aid office at Cooks for additional assistance if we are not able to reach this goal.

I really appreciate everyone in the community it has been close to 8 years since I have really been in contact with people here so it means so much to me the great care everyone has shown for my family.
