Help Anders get lifesaving Brain Surgery

In 2015 a close friend of our family Anders Warberg Ard experienced his first grand mal seizure. When he was first diagnosed with epilepsy he thought he had a controllable disorder. That was not the case for him. His medications were not working and things began to get much worse. After numerous attempts to find answers and rapidly increasing seizures, Anders sought another opinion at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. His new doctors diagnosed him with a Cavernous Malformation (cav-mal) of the brain and determined that surgery was necessary to remove the Cav-Mal. On October 27, 2017, Anders received his first major brain surgery. With time, Anders recovered and the frequency of his seizures significantly declined but the severity of them increased.


Throughout Anders' search for answers, he has continued to experience Grand Mal and Focal seizures as well as endless doctor consultations, medication switches and dosage adjustments to try managing the ongoing seizures, and the impacts on his life have been detrimental.


In early 2019, Dr. Zimmerman gave Anders some much-needed good news: they can operate again with a realistic goal of success. Albeit good news, the cost of the operation and associated expenses is sky-high, and Anders needs help. In addition to the cost of the surgery, the travel, food and lodging expenses are adding up. Anders and family will be flying back to Scottsdale, AZ in a few weeks and will have surgery on October 2nd. Upon returning home, Anders will not be able to return to work for an additional 2-3 months. His insurance will cover a portion of the procedure, but the associated expenses and wages lost due to inability to work are insurmountable for the foreseeable future. With your help, Anders will be able to get the care he needs and focus on his physical and emotional recovery, bringing him closer to the life he wants and deserves to live.
