It is established in the year of' 1990 and got registered in 1991 Under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act of 1975. Anbalayam is a social service organisation working for the developing of poor and weaker section of the society. Anbalayam has been serving wandering mentally ill persons for the past 23 years by providing Meals, trimming their hair, identifying and treating their wounds and providing dresses. Further we are running a Residential Care Centre for the orphans and Wandering Mentally HI people. www.wancleringmentallvill.in is the website launched by ANBALAYAM which is the first of its kind in the world to restore them to their families after rehabilitation. We have started admitting mentally ill persons from streets.
We have 18 years experience in STD / HIV / AIDS prevention programme working among various high risk group populations like Women in Prostitution, Hotel And lodge workers, police personnel's, Pimps & Brokers, Construction workers etc.
We as a team of volunteer visited Nagai and Velankanni on 28.02.2004 and 29.12.2004. In our visit we visited and interacted with the people of Kallar and Akkaraipettai camp & villages. We distributed Dresses, Bed sheets, Toys, Biscuits & Foods for around Six hundred people including children, as a follow up we have organized a committee in Trichy District to take up free Legal Aid Programme and counseling.
