Christopher’s road to recovery

Hey everyone, I’m writing this about my 18 year old nephew, Christopher Halbrook was caught in the cross fire of a robbery gone wrong and hit by a stray bullet critically injuring his spinal cord.

On June 3rd Chris’ life completely changed in so many ways that I can’t even begin to explain. He was at a local gas station car show checking out a few cars when he was hit. This careless act has left him a victim, paralyzed from the chest down and unable to do the things he used to do just a couple of days ago. Chris had so many plans for his future, he has a birthday next month and was about to celebrate his girlfriends 5th month of pregnancy and worked as a local mechanic. He showed up to work everyday like he was supposed to and overall he’s just a good kid beginning to start his life. He has 4 other siblings ages 8-16 and they are in total disbelief about what happened to their oldest brother.

Chris is doing very well considering how he came Into hospital. Even though he is paralyzed, he has made progress with his hand movements and is awake and talking. This is going to be a very long road for him. As the medical bills start to come in and not having insurance, things are going to get costly. Home improvements are going to have to be done and he will need lots of aftercare attention with physical therapy and such. As we take day by day all we can do is ask to please keep him, my sister, the siblings, all of us, in your prayers and thoughts.
