AMPLIFY BIPOC VOICES & BLACK SOLIDARITY FUND
Donation protected
Due to COVID-19 and the series of traumatic events due to anti-black racism globally, we've decided to put our international endeavours on hold and continue this essential work of amplifying marginalized voices in our beloved home Toronto, Ontario. Please see details about the fund below:
Our Women's Voices was founded in 2016 with a mission to amplify the voices of women, primarily marginalized women in BIPOC communities. For the past 4 years, Our Women's Voices has dedicated their platform towards empowering women to take up space and redefine their stories through community, arts and education. We've hosted over 20 events in Toronto for women to feel heard, seen & empowered by using their voices to share their stories. Our goal for Our Women's Voices is to give back to the women in our communities financially and provide more tangible resources for women to thrive. At this time we are asking for donations to the fund following:
1. Our Women's Voices Weekly Programming & Events (Virtually & IRL) such as our notable Healing Circle for Black communities. As we transition to virtual programming, we'll be resuming all of our Our Women's Voices events at the end of June for women of all intersections including our 4th Annual Summer event.
2. Black-Owned Businesses Micro-Grants to stand is solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement and support Black women-owned businesses struggling financially due to COVID-19. An application will be sent out July 1st and successful recipients will be awarded a $500 micro-grant to sustain their business.
3. To expand our team & hire a skilled, passionate & diverse group of women who are determined about community work, racial justice and intersectional feminism. Our Women's Voices will be hiring creative womxn & non-binary folks in July as contracted staff alongside year-long interns. Applications and detailed positions will be announced July 1st.
Our Women's Voices is excited for the future as we transition to a non-for-profit organization to help build healthier communities and provide marginalized folks the tools to thrive. We hope you can support this journey by donating or sharing. We are immensely grateful for the community + family that has led us here. Please email us if you have any questions or concerns.
*Please note, our website is currently under construction and will be live on July 1st. You can find us on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.
Thank you so much!
With love always,
Our Women's Voices
