Amor Art Farm Free Meal Project

Amor Art Farm Oasis is a young adult-led intentional community and urban farm working on the grassroots level for economic, racial, gender, & environmental healing. We host free weekly community meals on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm where people from all walks of life can gather to share nourishment, connection, and learning for body, mind, and spirit. Our locally-sourced plant-based organic meals are followed by an open-mic and community council circle.

We are located in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland, CA, which is low-income and without access to affordable high quality food. Our meals help meet some of the food needs of our neighbors, and fertilizes connections amongst the growing network of artists, activists, healers, social entrepreneurs, and resiliency builders in the Bay Area.

It will cost us approximately $350 to feed 45-70 people per week at our farm. Your contributions will go directly to the purchasing of food and for operations costs at our urban farm. These costs include kitchen staples, materials for food storage and preparation, garden infrastructure for our produce grown on-site, and other costs related to maintenance and upkeep. Thank you so much for your generosity, and we look forward to seeing you at one of our Thursday meals when you are in the Bay Area!

Our address is 2009 36th Avenue. Follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on our latest developments and offerings: https://www.facebook.com/amorartfarm/

This free meal gathering will also help us make connections for our next project, which is an economically sustainable, member-owned vegan catering business and food truck. Our vision for this business is to bring one free meal to the homeless camps in the Bay Area for every meal we sell in a corporate environment. In the recent months of planning our free meal project, we have already made numerous connections with local food activists, farmers, gift economics practitioners, and various progressive food organizations who are committed to creating lasting, affordable, and healthy food options for our low-income communities. We trust that these connections will continue to grow and deepen as we show up in service for the people.

Our urban farm oasis is located across the street from Canticle Farm, a renowned urban farming community composed of deeply committed and seasoned grassroots activists. Canticle is an established 501(c)(3) non-profit that has generously agreed to serve as our fiscal sponsor while we prepare to incorporate Amor Art Farm Oasis into its own non-profit entity and, eventually, launch a separate member-owned vegan catering business.
