American Political Tour
Spende geschützt
Hey Everyone,
My name is Alex, I'm 17 and am currently in Year 11.
As some of you may know after undertaking a rigorous and extensive application process I have been fortunate enough to be one of 16 young Australians selected to participate in the 2020 American Political Tour with UN Youth Australia.
I have long since been enamoured with politics and it was when I took my first politics elective, 'The World Pre and Post 9/11' that I truly fell in love with politics. American Politics has been an era of particular fascination to me and was the first area of politics I took the initiative to explore during (and following) and truly emerge myself in. It still remains my favourite area of study not solely in the current context but in past political figures, legacies and foreign policy. Engaging with politics has cleared up my vision of the world in a way that my glasses never could and I am endlessly grateful for the opportunity to witness and learn about my first true love ( yes American politics is my first love bc I'm a nerd and Bobby Kennedy is my favourite human and political figure) firsthand.
The tour runs over 4 weeks and will be commencing late December this year where we will explore intricacies of the current climate, and the roles of the rise in right wing conservatism, media coverage and interpretation, government and the relevant doctrines, and the American people in the context of a shifting democracy. Over the course of the tour we will explore the history of America and the politics of past, present and future to gain a comprehensive understanding of political and cultural shifts, how they occurred and how the era of today was formulated. We will also be visiting several different states, attending seminars, speeches and consultations with a variety of NGOs, Government Officials and a variety of key political players to help us further examine the consequences and implications of past, present and successive actions and ideas and how they will continue to shape our future and perhaps the fate of Liberal Democracy.
This tour brings me the utmost joy and excitement however in saying that I unfortunately do not possess adequate funds to cover the expense of this trip. Due to UN Youth being a non for profit organisation they are unable to provide financial support and as a result I am pursuing multiple fundraising efforts and looking for part time employment. I am hoping to at least raise enough to cover the cost of meals which are not included in the tour fee and it would mean the world to me if you could help me with raising funds.
If you have any questions or queries please don't hesitate to contact me or leave a comment below.
Endless thanks and well wishes,
Alex.
