AMERICA FOR PUERTO RICO
Hello everyone, my name is Carlos Antonio Negron II, I am an EMT for Jersey City Medical Center EMS, and I was recently honored as Puerto Rican EMT of the year in Jersey City. Although I was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ my roots lead back to Puerto Rico where my parents were born, also where much of my family still resides throughout the island. As we all know the island was recently devastated by a category 4 Hurricane named Maria on September 20, 2017. The island is completely in ruins, power to the entire island has been knocked out leaving millions in the dark for what is estimated to be months among all things. The people of the island are left in shambles without adequate supplies of food, water, clothing, and basic amenities. I cannot see myself as a proud American of Puerto Rican decent standing by doing nothing as my fellow Puerto Rican Americans on the island are struggling to survive the aftermath of this tragic force of nature. I am calling on not only my fellow Puerto Ricans, but on all my fellow Americans to help in this time of need. I know we are all reeling from two other deadly Hurricanes, Irma and Harvey which have also devastated Florida and Texas in the past few as well. This is when we as Americans show our pride and dedication to all our fellow countryman. Although Puerto Rico is an Island in the Caribbean, it is also part of the United States of America, making the millions that call Puerto Rico home, Americans as well. Please see it in your hearts to help out. Donations will be used to buy water and basic supplies that are needed to help our fellow Americans on the island of Puerto Rico while efforts to rebuild are on the way.
