Amanda is in the fight for her life. After being misdiagnosed for months, she finally got the diagnosis of a life threatening Gastric Adenocarcinoma Stage 4. With this diagnosis, she is not a candidate for the surgery needed to remove her stomach.
She may be a candidate for a radical surgery called HIPEC, which is very extensive and costly, with an extremely long recovery period and many months of treatment to follow. During this time she will not be able to work to help support her family. She just started a new job as a Para Educator at Columbus Community School in November, so she is not eligible for benefits. Matt works at Cooper Gutter Service in Letts, Iowa, and will have to take time off in order to take Amanda to her many appointments.
Amanda and her fiance, Matt, are parents to 3 wonderful children, Mason, 16, Jillian, 15, and Cash, 11. Together they all enjoy spending time in the outdoors, trout fishing, and camping. Matt and Amanda are hardworking and loving people who are always willing to help anyone in need.
We are now reaching out to our friends, family, and communities to ask for help so Amanda has a chance to fight this horrible disease. We want to see her grow old and have the opportunity to see her children graduate, marry, and have her grandchildren.
We have such a sense of urgency and need your help, prayers, and recommendations or referrals to somewhere, anywhere that can help her. We are desperate.
