Help Our Beloved Amanda Fight Cancer and Fulfill All Her Wishes to Further Treatment! We are praying for a Miracle!
At 27 years old, Amanda has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer and would like to get all the help she can to prolong her life for as long as she possibly can! Please help support her and her family!
(Amanda with all her boys taking a much needed family break in May 2020.)
Amanda is a beautiful, kind and gentle soul who has 3 young boys and is married to a wonderful husband, Steve. She is an outstanding mother who loves her babies very much, an entrepreneur who is brimming with creativity, a top chef in her division, an animal lover who will go completely out of her way to rescue, get them the care they need and find them a good home. She loves to help others in need and especially loves to genuinely make everyone she comes in contact smile and laugh in any way she can! She is the bringer of joy and she is an incredible spark of love and light! You’d know this if you’ve ever been in her presence. It’s absolutely illuminating!
(Amanda in her element at Pita Pi Greek Restaurant in 2019, just before cancer diagnosis.)
On October 30th, 2019 our beloved Amanda found out that she had stage 3 cervical cancer and devastation shocked her and her families world. She went on to be treated by the London Regional Cancer Clinic right away. The team of cancer doctors were very optimistic that she could be cured when she met with them back in the fall. She was terrified and anxiety ridden, but courageously she went on to have a recommended surgery to remove her fallopian tubes to prevent the cancer from spreading. Then they treated her with chemotherapy, radiation and brachytherapy to treat the 5mm tumour in the cervical area. Amanda grew very sick from the cancer treatment, had many complications along the way and nothing went as planned. In the meantime, Amanda could no longer work because her new focus was now her health and her husband could no longer focus on his work, either because he had to care for Amanda and their three young boys, Princeton, Preston and Perseus. Slowly, they started to lose grip of their once blessed life and both of the businesses they built from ground up, folded and permanently closed, as the restaurant couldn’t be maintained without Amanda and the auto mechanic shop could not be maintained without Steve. Shortly after the closure of both businesses, they lost their house and were forced to seek refuge and moved into a run-down rental home that desperately is in need of renovations, still to this day.
(Amanda starting radiation at the London Cancer Clinic in Fall/winter 2019.)
As hardship set in and mid-winter 2020 approached, the doctors managed to clear up the tumour in the cervical area, but matters got worse. The cancer started to spread into the lymph around the cervical region and a few small tumours started popping up elsewhere in her body. Also, Amanda was still struggling with all the side effects from the first initial treatment where the original tumour had obstructed the kidneys and they weren’t draining, so she had to get naphrostomy tubes surgically put into her back to help the kidneys drain into bags that she is still wearing today. On top of that, the chemotherapy cocktail that the doctors made her was too strong (wrong blend) and caused blood clots in her legs which caused her tremendous pain and mobility issues.
(Amanda trying to be positive while starting the first round of Chemotherapy at London Regional Cancer clinic in fall/winter 2019.)
Leading up to today, the kidney nephrostomy tubes have caused our poor girl endless infections after infections on top of everything else, which caused her constant setbacks with her cancer treatments, and with Amanda being in a very delicate situation, the doctors prolonged her desperately awaited second round of treatment, yet again.
(Kidney naphrosomy tubes shown here, along with a representation of how Paramed home health care cleans the area. No wonder Amanda has so many infections.)
Months passed as she waited for treatment and in spring 2020 the world pandemic, covid 19 hit and put us all into lock down. Amanda was still battling all the constant, reoccurring infections caused by the kidneys while praying and remaining hopeful that she could get more cancer treatment from the doctor. It’s an utter shame and disgrace, but due to the constant kidney infections and Covid 19 restrictions, Amanda has still not received treatment to date. With great sadness and because of this prolonged treatment, on August 15th we found out the most horrifying news that would come to break our hearts forever. The cancer has now metastasized into her spine and floating around in the lymph. Amanda is now considered terminal and at this point we do not know how long she will live if she doesn’t get help soon.
(Amanda at home hooked up to IV hydration in September 2020. She's not doing well in this picture.)
Amanda desperately and urgently wishes to save her life and will go to the end of the world and back to have her best shot at it and we all want to help her do that. Unfortunately, alternative treatments come with a big price tag and not covered by our insurance or our western health care system. Therefore, we want to fundraise to raise as much funding as we possibly can to be sure that Amanda is 100% comfortable, gets to fulfill all of her healing wishes and to make sure her husband and 3 little boys are well taken care of.
At this point, we don’t know exactly where this journey of healing will take us, but Amanda would like to start by going to a naturopathic doctor who specializes in oncology (cancer), digestion, Chinese medicine and hormone therapy here in London to help get nutrition into her body for as long as it takes to ensure she is strong enough to make the trip with her mother to the Oasis of Hope in Mexico. The naturopathic doctor will cost about $2,000 for a few weeks of treatment to strengthen her and help heal her infections and the 20 day enriched immunotherapy program at the Oasis of Hope Medical Centre will cost about $65,000 including travel and may cost more, if further treatment or blood transfusions are required. We may also discover more essential treatment possibilities as we go and we do not want any restrictions to come in the way of Amanda’s Journey of Hope to save her life. Additional funding will go towards: a dietician, further alternative treatments, dietary and supplementation costs, child care costs, medical and ambulance bills, house cleaning costs and contingencies. Should we exceed the needs of this fund, remaining proceeds will be put in trust for the children's educational.
With immense gratitude and a grateful heart, we, team Amanda would like to thank you in advanced for all your prayers, positive thoughts and contributions! Please help by sharing this on all your social media platforms so you can be a part of Amanda’s healing journey and ultimate quest for more time!
