The Amal software team is holding a designathon at UC Berkeley!
Amal, founded by two UC Berkeley alumna (Negah Nafisi and Soha Eshraghi), is a digital platform that proposes a new legal software program and digital platform that allows women in MENA (Middle East and North Africa) countries to understand their rights and to complete the paperwork required to secure access to these rights. Amal offers resources to legally secure these rights through central, automated document generation software.
Why a DESIGNATHON?
Amal placed third in a World Bank competition of over two thousand entries. The next round of review by the World Bank will take place on October 9th. To bring the project to life more quickly we are holding a competition "designathon" to build the user interface of the platform. (click here for full details of the designathon )
What is the money for?
Designathons require people, people require food, and food requires money. We are providing full meals, snacks, beverages, and clean up for approximately 80-100 participants. We only have 10 days to get funding as the competition is scheduled for 9/22-9/23 and food orders need to be placed a few days prior to the event.
We appreciate anything you can offer to support this effort!
