On June 4 of 2020 The Black Inmate Commissary Fund launched and was able raise and redistribute over $50,000 to Black incarcerated, formerly incarcerated, and families/communities affected by mass incarceration. Since then, we have created sustainable mutual aid for our people EXCEPT for housing.
The Amada Land trust is an initiative to create a regenerative autonomous community for BIPOC people reentering society. As we know incarceration can and typically ruins the lives of those impacted meaning the access to housing, healing, and employment are limited nor are they adequate for what our people deserve after being held in captivity. To avenge the suffering of our ancestors and those currently impacted we plan to repurpose and rebuild The Render Plantation which in its peak was a fortress of terror for Black enslaved people here in Atlanta.
Our plans for The Amada Land Trust is to create stable housing for formerly incarcerated people while supplying them with healing resources , case management , and expounded on their skills. Our methodology is backed by our Black queer feminist lens, harm reduction, restorative justice to create solid sustainable programming for The Amada Land Trust
As of now The plantation is listed for 2.3million and with your help we want to raise $500,000 to secure a decent deposit, assist with operational cost, and sourcing our first housing clients . The time is now we must see tangible liberation in our lifetime and it starts with those who have lost their lives to mass incarceration and deserve their brighter day to include a just and equitable future.
