In August of 2015, 24-year-old Alvin Krishna was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Synovial Sarcoma. Synovial Sarcoma of the Head & Neck account for less than one percent of all cancers. It is very aggressive and extremely rare in this location. Due to the location of the tumor, the Surgeons in Vancouver deemed his situation inoperable. In a panic, Alvin and his partner researched for a surgeon to perform this operation. They compiled all of Alvin's clinical notes and sent them out to three renowned Surgeons throughout North America.

In the meantime, he was given a 5-7% chance of survival with 7 weeks of radical radiation and 4 months of inpatient chemotherapy; both of which had no response.

In June of 2016, Alvin & his partner met with a Surgeon from Toronto that responded to his letter and offered him the surgery.  Alvin underwent an extensive 20-hour operation (the largest reconstruction in Canada). He had a full craniotomy and the right side of his face was reconstructed using his fibula, scapula, latissimus dorsi, sural nerves, vascular tissue from his back and skin grafts from his leg. He also had a tracheostomy and feeding tube inserted. He woke up from the surgery unable to speak, eat, drink and walk. He has endured so much pain and agony but this has never stopped Alvin from pushing forward and beating the odds. When Alvin & his partner returned to Toronto to have his jaw unwired, he made gift bags for everyone in the Head & Neck ward and shared his testimony to encourage others to always have faith.

Only 3 months after his extensive surgery and with all his new disabilities, Alvin enrolled himself in Microbiology with the intention of becoming a doctor.

Unfortunately, Alvin recently had a CT scan done which showed a local reoccurrence of the cancer and metastasis to the regional neck lymph nodes. Drs have now informed him that there is no more standard treatment left for him and suggested an experimental clinical trial in the US, which will not be covered.

With your support, they will use the finances to cover the medical and travel expenses of the clinical trial.

Alvin and his fiancé are praying for a miracle and will not lose hope. It is a humbling experience to them to have to reach out for financial support as they both have always been two very independent individuals who have always helped others.

By the grace of God, we ask for your unselfish act of kindness and help support this great cause.
