My name is Amal, I am a Palestinian-American living in Florida. I am organizing this fundraiser in order to help my dear friend Tahani and her family. We were not able to raise enough funds to evacuate any of them to safety, so Tahani chose to use the funds to help anyone she can. She has used some to feed her own family and has distributed the majority to others in need. Food costs are high due to the blockages by the occupation. Any donations will be sent to Tahani and this will help provide food to her and those she gives to (everyone is in need at this point).

Tahani is a seamstress and embroidery artist who not only provided for her own family through her work, but spread work amongst hundreds of women in her community who were also able to provide for their families.

I got to know her very well through working with her to make cross stitch dresses for me and my family. Through my love and passion for Palestinian tatreez (cross-stitch) and her incredible skill to make beautiful traditional dresses, we became good friends.

Tahani has 6 children. The Alhwar family has been displaced several times; first from their home in Khan Younis to Tahani’s parents home in Deir Al Balah. At the time the family evacuated to Tahani’s parent’s home, they were told it is a safe zone. Not long after, the home was hit by a missile and damaged to the point that it was no longer livable. Tahani’s mother passed away shortly after the attack from her injuries. At this point, the family evacuated to Rafah and now live in a small tent under incredibly difficult conditions.
