Alexander Smith in ICU- Medical Expenses

My name is Nicole Storlie. I had hoped I would never have to arrange one of these for a loved one.

On Monday night (January 15, 2024), my 13 year old nephew Alex Smith was involved in a serious rollover accident and was flown to Harborview for emergency surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain. He also suffers from multiple broken bones and internal organ damage. He has had three surgeries so far. He is currently in ICU on a ventilator and is stable. He is responding to requests to wiggle his toes. Alex is in 8th Grade at West Valley Junior High. He is tough, brave, fearless, stubborn, funny and beloved.

His mom Janette Smith and dad, my brother Andrew Smith are currently in Seattle by his side. This has been devastating for our entire family, especially in the context of other health challenges and caregiving. As a family, we are near our breaking point.

It is unknown how long he will need to stay in the ICU. It is certain he will need several months of recovery and rehabilitation and therapy. I am reaching out to my network of friends, colleagues, and family to help in this time of crisis. All proceeds will go to his mom and dad to help defer costs of care and expenses related to being by his side.
