Albert Hinckley Funeral & Burial
Spende geschützt
As you probably know already our Dad, Albert Hinckley, aka Junior, passed away earlier this week. We received the call today explaining it was in fact his bladder cancer from 6yrs ago metastasized into his bones, specifically his spine. He fought so hard for so many years against so many unrelated health conditions. He was an amazing man for staying with us as long as he did.
We learned some new things about him today...during his time in Korea, he alone started a home for children orphaned by the war. He was caught "redistributing" blankets and other supplies lying around his barracks and spent every dime he made on the kids. His family back home could never understand why a young, single man clothed and fed by the army, was always broke! What started with 7 or 8 children ended as a fully run orphanage of 70-80 kids carried on by his fellow servicemen upon his return to the U.S.
Although his physical abilities were limited in his later years, which prevented him from doing many of the things he loved, it didn't change the incredible optimism he had for life. He was an extremely generous man who became a surrogate father to so many. Throughout his years, even with meager means he continued to help others before helping himself.
His obituary and service information will be shared tomorrow in the Kennebec Journal and we'll update with a link here as well.
We all know how expensive funeral costs are. His 6yr battle with cancer preceded by a long standing struggle with other health issues prevented him from obtaining any reasonable life insurance. We are asking anyone who is able to contribute to his final expenses to do what you can. No amount is too small and all will be greatly appreciated.
Please share this wonderful story we just learned about our Dad with anyone you think he might know or would appreciate it. Yes, we are his daughters and of course we think he is the greatest man who ever lived, but this time we just might be right!
Ever so thankful,
Jennifer, Stacy & Dawn.
