After a lot of backwards and forwards to the GP and the hospital ,My beautiful daughter Alana was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.Rhabdomyosarcoma of the uterus 3 months ago on the 22nd of June.
Just 2 weeks after her 14th birthday ,the tumour already very large and compressing her bladder and bowel.
The day of her diagnosis was so heartbreaking ,we really didn’t expect what we were hearing.Our world was turned upside down.
Alana began treatment at Sheffield Children’s Hospital ,were all the doctors and nurses have been amazing.
We were told that Alana would not be able to carry children and she had surgery to remove one of her ovaries to be frozen for the future.It was so hard for us all .Alana lost her beautiful long hair not long after her treatment began .
Alanas first 2 cycles of chemotherapy have been so hard along with the vomiting , nausea and feeling so tired and weak the tumour was bleeding badly and she haemorrhaged needing many blood transfusions and platelet transfusions.
Her liver also became swollen ,one of the side effects of the chemotherapy.She was in so much pain.It has been so hard for me seeing her in so much pain and many times I wished I could take away her pain and swap places with her .
Alana has just had her 4th surgery which this time was in Leeds and we are at home now for rest and recovery before her next cycles of chemotherapy begin.
She has been so brave and courageous throughout and is a total inspiration ,I am so proud of her.I have posted the page just to raise some funds for things we need for hospital and for while we are in away in hospital.
