Al & Lola Calderon

Dear Fellow Quail Ridge Members,

This email is about one of everyone’s favorite Quail Ridge employee, Alvaro Calderon. We have been fortunate to have such a quality individual caring for dining needs for over 35 years. Serving generations of QR members & guests is rare in today’s world.

During the off-season, Al resides in Asheville, NC with his life partner for 20 years, Kira Roush and their 16-year-old daughter, Lola. On September 9, 2022, Al and Lola’s lives were turned upside when their beloved Kira passed away from a heart attack. Since that time, they have been working with broken hearts and creating a new life for themselves. Lola is currently living with her aunt in Virginia and Al of course has made his way back to Quail, often traveling back to spend time with his daughter and other family members.

Al has taken such good care of us, now it's time to push it forward and help Al and Lola. A Gofundme.com has been established for this purpose. Here are the criteria that have been established for their benefit:

• 50% of the funds will be held in reserve for Lola’s Education Fund

• The remaining 50% will be used accordingly:

o Offset funeral expenses incurred

o Travel funds so Al can visit his daughter during the remainder of this season

o Living expenses for his daughter while she lives with relatives in Virginia
