Based on a System wide assessment conducted by Chapin Hall, In 2018 in New York City there are 4,600 homeless young people under the age of 25. In the early 90’s I was one of these teens. I was fortunate enough to have a community who never gave up on me. I participated in programs like The Dreamers, The WOW Program, and Southern Heights. I excelled in school and ended up graduating from Coalition High School for Social Change in 1999 with a 98 grade point average. I went on to receive the Bill and Melinda Gates Scholarship.
The reason I am sharing this with you is because it is the reason why I am a secretary and Treasurer for Exuberant Care Inc. Homelessness is personal to me. I was a homeless teen in New York City. Exuberant Care Inc a 501 C 3 Non Profit organization, is committed to empowering people who are homeless. We offer different programs to assist people in getting off the streets and keeping it that way.

The holidays are the worst time for people that are homeless. At Exuberant Care we want to make a difference in the lives of people who are homeless. Our goal is to create 25 backpacks with the essential items that will be given as Christmas gifts to 25 Young People (5 from each borough in New York City) who are unstoppable despite their circumstances. We are inviting you to assist in acknowledging these young people for their courage and tenacity.
We believe the best way to make a difference is to go out there in the streets and give each homeless person the choice of transforming their lives, empowering them in any way and give HOPE to those that may have lost faith. We understand that there are breakdowns in life and we want people to know that they are not alone.
Our “WE got your back’’ Fundraiser is giving back to 25 teens in NYC that are homeless during this time of need in our city. We are letting them know that people do care. We are requesting your support in accomplishing our goal and making a difference in the lives of teens in NYC. Anything you can contribute would be appreciated.
