Help Bring Aida Home to the Philippines
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved friend Aida, who bravely fought cancer over the past five months. Despite her strength, hope, and unwavering spirit, Aida passed away far from home on April 17th in Edmonton, surrounded by friends who supported her throughout her journey.
Aida lived and worked in Inuvik for 15 years. She was a quiet, hardworking, and dependable presence in the community. Over the years, she worked at Aramark in the hospital kitchen, Northmart, the Inuvik Shelter, and the Children First Society.
Aida was also the breadwinner for her family back home in the Philippines. Her greatest wish was to return home and be with her loved ones. Now, we are doing everything we can to fulfill that wish and help her family say their final goodbyes.
We are raising funds to transport Aida’s body back to the Philippines, so she can be laid to rest with the love and dignity she deserves. All donations will go directly toward this cause.
To honor Aida’s life, we will be holding a small memorial gathering—details to follow.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this difficult time. Every contribution—no matter the amount—makes a difference and brings us one step closer to sending Aida home.
This fundraiser is organized by Julie Anonuevo MacNeil and Jenel Zabala.
