Aid Haraletta: Fire Took All But One Album

This is Haraletta Murphy, a retired hairdresser from Altadena, California, who, like so many others in her community, has lost everything in the devastating Eaton Fire. Haraletta lived in her home for 55 years—a place where she and her late husband raised 4 children, and where she created a lifetime of memories with her 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

For decades, Haraletta’s home was the heart of her family. It was a place of laughter and love, where holidays, birthdays, and special events were celebrated– there was no celebration too big or too small. Haraletta spent days in the garden, reading her favorite books, sewing, baking, and doing jigsaw puzzles—activities that filled her life with joy. She even served as the neighborhood watch captain, looking out for her neighbors and ensuring their safety.

Sadly, in the fire, Haraletta was only able to save one photo album—everything else, including irreplaceable mementos from her late husband, was lost. Among the items destroyed were his ashes, a profound loss that no words can fully capture. Though her physical belongings are gone, Haraletta is safe and currently living with one of her daughters, who is caring for her during this incredibly difficult time.

As Haraletta begins the painful journey of reestablishing her life, she needs our support.
